Well I’ve away this week in Grand Rapids to do some estimation training with my dad, so I basically get a week off to cram my fricken brain full of totally useful stuff that I will NEVER find else where. Estimation for sheet metal isn’t taught, the knowledge is passed on, you have to be an apprentice to learn this.

So Far;
Sunday - travel, for 7h, ate lunch before crossing border, boarder chick was aggressive as usual. Set up camp in hotel
Monday - beginning of training, today I got to go over basic facts about life and how things work. Along with general drawings symbols. Not everything is shown on the drawings ..
Tuesday - Gmail & Studnet email down, I got to start changing prices for items to make them more accurate

So many of my teachers leave rather bland and uneventful descripts of what went on, and are no use to be (unless the also post the handouts)

<3 Home, and sis + mom, school (but only the ppl in it)

Ubuntu - Linux for Humans

The greatest free software aviable: Ubuntu with Firefox, GIMP, OpenOffice, VLC, and many many more open source software solutions.

Ubuntu is an OS, an OS is: Operating system, like the popular Microsoft XP. It’s base software that runs software. Ubuntu is free, it’s a version of Linux. Fits on a cd and uses less resources then Windows XP. You can make it do this with it also : See movie In that movie they are using Beryl which changes the desktop so you can do the cube effect along with the snow, water (not sure if that’s in the vid) and opaqueness of the windows.

Over all so far a very positive experience, although i have yet to get dual screen working. It’s not supported out of the box and ill probably have to go searching for a free but difficult to install solution. Many programs that many users will use are very easily able to be installed via and install/uninstall on the main menu.

Vista

Well I got Vista RTM a week ago and so far I hate it. Nice to look at, but very annoying to install and open or change just about anything. DRM on my music is preventing me from playing it as I can’t download the lisence.
Why I don’t like Vista:
1. Too expensive - I mean $500, i would pay $250
2. Too annoying with getting drivers and software working well (or getting them to play along for that matter)
3. Not ready for people to use yet, hardware isn’t fast enough on 90% of the world’s computers to run it properly
